As you may know, almost thai people are Buddhist. So, there are many temples around the country. About 2-3 years ago the tourism authority of thailand have established the project " Praying in 9 meaningful temples". Today, I'll show you the name of them. And before that I have to let you know that something that sounds strange for you, but this is what thai people believe. If you understand so.................let's go

1.Temple of the Emerald Buddha

This is the temple that everyone should know, it's like a signature of Bangkok. The people who go to this temple believe that if they go, they will receive many of asset.

2.The Temple of the Reclining Buddha

The Temple of the Reclining Buddha or Wat Pho, located next to the temple of the emerald buddha. The word "Pho" in Thai means a kind of the tree. So, many people believe that they will secure and peaceful like they stand under the tree, if they go to this temple.

3.Temple of the Dawn
The temple of the dawn or Wat Pho located on another side of Chao Phraya river, the opposite side of the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Its meaning in Thai is "Sun" that shining and make people's life more clear.

4.Wat Chana Songkram This temple located in Chana songkram, Phra Makorn district. The word "Chana" in Thai means "to win or to beat something" so people who go there believe that they will beat over any obstruction or enemies.

5.Wat Kalayanamitr
The word "Kalayanamitr" means "good friend", because its meaning is sounds favourable so people who want a good friends come and pray here.

6.Wat Rakung
This temple located near Siriraj Hospital and The temple of the dawn. The word "rakung" meaning is "bell". People who go there believe thier name will renowed like a sound of a bell. In this temple, there are many bells like thier name, the visitors are likely to hit the bell for thier good luck too.

7.Wat Suthat Thepwararam
Its meaning sounds like having a good vision, so many people who want to have a good vision usually come here.

8.The City Pillar Shrine
Established at the same time of the establishment of Bangkok. The people usually go there because its name sounds good and powerful.

9.Tiger Shrine
If you go to this place, you may doubt that why many peoples there. This because of the word "tiger" sounds powerful so people like to go there and they will powerful too.

10 most dangerous "Soi" (or sideroad) in Bangkok

There are many road and sideroad (called "Soi" in Thai) in Bangkok. Some of them are very dangerous, even for Thai people. So, you have to avoid going there. The names of them are as follows.

1)Soi Ladphrao 21, Chatuchak District

This is about 500 metres long and about 150 households. None of shop or store so
there are not so busy around there. There are many criminals such as a robbery and sometimes the victims get killed too.

2)Soi Vibhavadi 64, Lak Si District

Jintra village (4th project) located here. But there are untidy and deserted so snatching was occurred as normal.

3)Soi Charan Sanit Wong 37, Bangkok Noi District

Many gangsters use here to meeting their members. Car breaking and rape are occured very often. At night there are very dark and scary.

4)Soi Charan Sanit Wong 89, Bang Phlat District

This is a meeting point of narcotic sellers and also crowded by a robber and gangsters.

5)Soi Suan Pak 11, Taling Chan District

This is a sideroad of Suan Pak Road. At night there are very weird. Many criminals occured and the police can not catch anybody.

6)Soi Phirom, Samphanthawong District

This is a sideroad of Song ward Road. There are many robbery and car breaking here.

7)Soi Charoen Nakorn 23, Khlong Sarn District

At night, this is a very bad place, robbery always happened and motorcycle are always lost.

8)Soi Wimutayaram, Bang Phlat District

The gangsters always meet here to fight with other gangs. Also, this is a meeting place for narcotic addicted too.

9)Soi Ruam Raksa, Huay Kwang District

This is a famous place for both narcotic sellers and buyers for many ten years. Robbery are always take place too.

10)Soi Wat Makok, Ratchathewi District

There are many narcotic problems and gangsters. People around there are too scare to leave home at night because they might been robbed or raped.

Chinese New Year in Thailand

Chinese people who lives in Thailand and their descendants have three tradition to do in this festival

Buy - In the day before the last day of the year, they will buy foods and other things to use in this festival.

Pray - In the last day of the year, they will prey for their good luck. And they prey three times on that day.
Early morning - Prey to their god
Late morning - Prey to their dead ancestors
Afternoon - Prey to their dead relatives

Travel - In the New Year day, they will give and ask for a blessing from their relative or respected people.

Tips

- In this festival, the word " Sin Jia You I Sinnii wat chai " can be hear anywhere becase it mean " Happy New Year "
- In New Year day, the Chinese will give an oranges to the others (always four oranges wrapped in men hankerchief) because the word " orange " in Chinese sounds like gold.
- Married couples or the elderly will give red packets ( or 'ang pow' ) to unmarried juniors.

Places to visit in this festival

In Thailand, if you think about places to visit in this festival, you should go to Yaowarat Road because this is a Chinatown in Bangkok. You will see a throughly tradition and many interesting activities. You will not disappointed if you go to Yaowarat Road, I can guarantee.
